Surviving an Unlivable Wage

I watched this CBS documentary and felt compelled to share. 70% of restaurant workers and servers are women, and most make less than $2 an hour - "slave wages", in the words of the woman on the video!) Because of restaurant associations and their old cronies, they have kept this less than minimum wage salary which mostly goes to taxes so low to keep their restaurants in business. I hate to see what has happened after the Corona Virus effects on society.

Most of these women are dependent on these jobs to take care of their families. They are loyal and seemingly like their jobs because of the relationships with customers. Some of have been in the industry for years, and don't have any complaints.

I think if more people were educated about the fact that women are reliant on tips only, which is usually 12% of sales brought in after a percentage going to the house tips (shared with bartenders, bussers, boh staff etc) that they would realize how these businesses get run. Watch the documentary, help women make more money!
