Saving money is the new making money

In my quest to create a passive income stream, I've watched a whole lotta youtube videos and read a lot of blogs on the subject. There are all kinds of people talking about their typical ways of doing the upfront work and then raking in the $$ monthly. Sigh, the optimist in me is getting discouraged. They are making youtube videos selling a pipe dream. The older realist in me realizes they probably haven't even made any money on the things they are selling to us idealistic dopes.

Saving money is just as important as making new income streams

Parallel concepts to making more money is just to save money. Some things might come easier to certain types of people. In the quest to see every single alternative and TRY most of them, just so I can speak from my personal experience I tried a few different free browser plugins that can help you save and possibly make a little money.

Honey

The good thing about browser plugins is that you can get rid of them at any time, they are super fast to download and not very obtrusive. Whenever I buy anything online, and I don't even remember or have time to check coupon codes Honey does it for you! There's sometimes when I plan to buy something and a popup appears that scrubs through the whole internet to search for everything from free shipping to any types of discount codes that I may have forgotten.

Honey is seriously like a cool frugal friend that hangs out with you every time you go shopping, and forages through her purse to find a coupon that would save you money when you were going to buy that thing anyways. It's really like an extra boost of delight knowing you can save a little bit more money when you didn't know you could.

I never pay attention to how many points something is worth, but once you get to 1000 gold, i think you get a $10 gift card to anywhere you want.

It's free to add all these plugins, so even if you don't end up using it every much or buy that much it's low risk. They claim that over 17 million people have downloaded and are using it. I'm assuming that Google and facebook and all these other places are already following my every single move and click online anyways, so selling my info to one more place doesn't really bother me : p.....but i do get a lot of phantom spam emails in my inbox that I have to unsubscribe to immediately.

Rakuten ebates

I feel like I've had ebates for the last 10 years ever since it's inception, but they've been bought out by Rakuten. This guy I saw on Youtube who claims he has 7 passive income streams at the age of 24 says that you can make money off of every person that you refer that downloads this, as well as when you first download it. Shrug, I fell for it. I downloaded the plug in and started perusing. I guess if you don't actually shop a whole lot especially for non-essentials outside of food or amazon you might never rack up enough points to make this worthwhile.

Even though i'm older now, I think I've always been the kind of person that needs to experience things for herself and not listen to what other people tell you to do and not to do. Haha, I always have to see what will happen for myself. The plugin has a little purple R icon and will be now shown in your extensions area of your browser (I use chrome) and will have an R icon in your toolbar. Maybe I'm not a big spender, but let's say you were buying in bulk for your business, or if you're a wholesaler of some sort, or if you were doing holiday shopping for your clients or family. This could be utilized much like credit card rewards.

If you're spending anyways, you might as well be smart about it!
